Root Canal

Does every root canal require a crown?

Not every root canal absolutely requires a crown, but most back teeth (molars and premolars) benefit greatly from one because they become more brittle after treatment and are subject to strong chewing forces. Front teeth with minimal damage may sometimes be restored with a permanent filling, but your dentist will recommend the best option based on the tooth’s condition.

- Crowns are strongly recommended for molars and premolars after a root canal.
- Front teeth with good remaining structure may sometimes be restored with a filling.
- Delaying the crown can risk fracturing the tooth, potentially leading to loss of the tooth.
