Root Canal

How is a root canal done?

A root canal is performed under local anesthesia. The dentist isolates the tooth, creates a small opening, removes the infected pulp, cleans and shapes the canals, then fills them with a biocompatible material. A temporary filling is placed until the final crown or restoration is ready.

- Arrange for a quiet rest period after the appointment—most people resume normal activities the next day.
- Use any prescribed antibiotics or pain medication exactly as directed.
- If a temporary filling feels high or sharp, call the clinic for a quick adjustment.
