How is root canal treatment done?

Root canal treatment is performed under local anesthesia to ensure you are comfortable. The dentist isolates the tooth with a rubber dam, creates a small opening in the top of the tooth, removes the infected pulp, and cleans and shapes the root canals. The canals are then filled with a biocompatible material and sealed. A temporary filling is placed until a permanent crown or filling can be made.

- The procedure is done with local anesthesia and is not painful.
- A rubber dam keeps the tooth clean and dry during treatment.
- Most cases are completed in one or two appointments, followed by a permanent crown.
