Root Canal

How long is recovery after a root canal?

Most people recover from a root canal within a few days. Mild tenderness when biting or chewing is normal for 24 to 72 hours, and you can usually return to work and normal activities the next day. Full healing of the surrounding tissues continues over several weeks, but the tooth becomes fully functional once the permanent crown is placed.

- Expect mild soreness that improves day by day; over‑the‑counter pain relievers usually help.
- Avoid chewing on the treated side until the final restoration is placed.
- Contact your clinic if pain persists beyond a week or if you develop swelling or fever.
