How to deal with root canal pain?

During a root canal, local anesthesia keeps you comfortable, and you should feel no sharp pain—only pressure. Afterward, mild soreness or sensitivity is normal for a few days and can usually be managed with over‑the‑counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen or paracetamol, following the label instructions.

- Use over‑the‑counter pain relief as directed for the first 2–3 days.
- Avoid chewing on the treated side until a permanent crown or filling is placed.
- Contact your clinic if pain increases or swelling appears after the first few days.
