How to relieve pain after root canal treatment?

Mild pain or sensitivity after a root canal is normal and can usually be managed with over‑the‑counter pain relievers such as ibuprofen or paracetamol, taken according to the label instructions. Applying a cold pack to the outside of the cheek in 10‑minute intervals can also help reduce any swelling and soothe the area.

- Use over‑the‑counter pain relievers as directed for the first 2–3 days.
- Apply a cold pack to the cheek to reduce swelling.
- Avoid chewing on the treated side until the permanent restoration is in place.
