Root Canal

How to tell if root canal is infected?

Signs of an infected root canal include persistent or worsening pain, swelling of the gum or face, a pimple on the gum that may drain pus, a bad taste, and sometimes fever. Even if pain is absent, an abscess can be visible on an X‑ray.

- Swelling, especially if it spreads to your face or neck, is an urgent sign.
- Fever combined with dental pain requires prompt attention.
- If you have a temporary crown or filling, avoid chewing on that side until the infection is evaluated.
