Root Canal

When can you eat after a root canal?

You can usually eat as soon as the local anesthesia wears off, which takes about 2 to 4 hours. Start with soft foods on the opposite side of your mouth to avoid pressure on the treated tooth.

- Wait until the numbness completely fades before eating to avoid accidentally biting your cheek or tongue.
- Choose soft foods like yogurt, soup, or mashed potatoes for the first 24–48 hours.
- Avoid chewing on the treated side until your dentist confirms the tooth is fully restored.
