Root Canal

Why is my root canal hurting?

Mild soreness for a few days after a root canal is normal. If the pain is sharp or persists, common reasons include a bite that is slightly too high (the filling or temporary crown needs adjustment), inflammation of the ligament, or a crack in the tooth. Persistent or worsening pain with swelling should be evaluated.

- A high bite is the most common cause of lingering pain; a quick adjustment fixes it.
- Avoid chewing on that tooth until the cause is identified.
- Contact your clinic if pain does not improve after a few days or if swelling develops.
