Lezhë
Lezhë is a beautiful city in northwestern Albania, bordering Shkoder in the north, Mat in the east, Diber County in the south and the Adriatic Sea in the west. Being a coastal town along the Adriatic Sea, Lezhe allows easy visits for every traveller who comes by road or by sea.
Founded in ancient times, it is rich in history and has vast cultural heritage. The Lezhë Castle is the most major landmark of this city. This fortress sits on top of a hill, offering an expansive view of the surroundings and presenting remains of historical periods starting from Illyrian, Roman, and Ottoman.
Another very important site is the Tomb of Skanderbeg, dedicated to the national hero of Albania, the head of resistance against the Ottomans. It is an integrative part of the history and a must-visit for any person interested in the country's past.
This city also hosts some natural attractions. The nearby Shengjin Beach offers a nice setting with its sandy shores and clear waters, so the beach is perfect for relaxation under the Mediterranean climate. Walking and exploring opportunities are also possible in the surrounding landscapes.
