Root Canal

Can you smoke after getting a root canal?

It is strongly recommended to avoid smoking for at least 48 to 72 hours after a root canal. Smoking can delay healing, increase inflammation, and may dislodge the temporary filling. The suction from smoking can also cause pain or affect blood flow to the area.

- Wait at least 2‑3 days before smoking to give the healing process a chance.
- Avoid inhaling directly over the treated tooth.
- If you experience throbbing pain or swelling after smoking, stop and consult your clinic.
