Root Canal

How long after a root canal can you smoke?

It is strongly recommended to avoid smoking for at least 72 hours after a root canal, and ideally longer. Smoking slows healing, reduces blood flow to the treated area, and increases the risk of infection or complications with the temporary filling.

- Avoid smoking and vaping for at least 72 hours after treatment, longer if possible.
- Smoking while on antibiotics or pain relief medication can reduce their effectiveness.
- Contact your clinic if pain increases after the first few days rather than improving.
