Root Canal

How long does pain last after root canal?

Mild to moderate soreness after a root canal typically lasts between 2 and 4 days. The tooth and surrounding gum may feel tender when biting, but discomfort should gradually decrease each day. Standard over-the-counter pain relief such as ibuprofen or paracetamol is usually sufficient.

- Soreness that steadily improves over 2–4 days is normal and expected.
- If pain gets worse instead of better after day three, contact your clinic promptly.
- Avoid chewing hard foods on the treated side until the final crown or restoration is placed.
