Root Canal

If I had a root canal why does my tooth hurt?

Mild pain or sensitivity for a few days after a root canal is normal as the surrounding tissues heal. Common causes of persistent discomfort include a temporary filling that is slightly too high (a “high bite”) or inflammation of the ligament around the tooth. These usually resolve with a simple bite adjustment or with time.

- A high bite is easily fixed with a quick adjustment at the clinic.
- Mild soreness that improves daily is normal; severe or worsening pain is not.
- If swelling or fever develops, seek urgent care.
