Root Canal

Why is my root canal tooth hurting?

Mild soreness for a few days after a root canal is normal as the tissues around the tooth heal. If the pain persists or is sharp, common causes include a bite that is slightly too high (the filling or temporary crown needs a quick adjustment), inflammation of the ligament, or a crack in the tooth.

- If the bite feels uneven, a quick adjustment by any dentist often stops the pain.
- Avoid chewing on that tooth until the cause is identified.
- Contact your clinic if pain is severe or accompanied by swelling or fever.
